The wines of Lazio have long been the favorites of popes and princes. The Castel de Paolis winery lies just outside the eternal city of Rome in the township of Grottaferrata, a famed refuge for the Roman elite since the Middle Ages. Its Campo Vecchio Bianco is a white wine made from a blend of grape varietals indigenous to the region: Malvasia del Lazio, Bellone, Romanesca, Bonvino, Passerina, Grechetto, and Trebbiano Giallo.
