Stroll down any New York street in March and you can’t help be aware of the impending St. Patrick’s Day festivities, in which storefronts and bars become awash in a sea of green. This popular holiday is intended as a salute to the city’s Irish heritage, but is too often transformed into a night of student debauchery: while we too love downing 2-for-1 lite beers and sporting a novelty Leprechaun’s hat, we agree there’s nothing particularly Irish about it.
At Vino we choose our drinks carefully: having recently begun carrying non-Italian products on our shelves (including a growing selection of spirits), we’re thrilled to be throwing a real St. Patrick’s Day celebration this year. Join us on Wednesday, March 17 when we’ll be preparing Tom Moore cocktails made from Finian’s Irish Whiskey! A variation on the classic Manhattan, the Tom Moore replaces rye whiskey or Bourbon with Irish whiskey, making it the quintessential Irish-New York drink!
Finian’s Five Provinces Irish Whiskey harkens back to a time when Ireland was comprised of 5 provinces: Connachta, Lagin, Mide, Mumu, and Ulaid. This Irish-owned Cooley distillery produces a whiskey made from crystal clear mountain water and the finest Irish malted barley. An extended distillation process results in a rich, smooth and uncommonly clean whiskey.
